Wow, can you believe school is already out for summer? The year flew by and we couldn’t be more happy that our kiddos are home, but what do we do with them!? Well, we thought this would be the perfect time to take a break from our typical fence posts and share our 5 favorite things to do with the kids this summer. Check them out below!

Number 1


Knock it outta the park with Springfield’s favorite pastime at Hammons Field watching the Cardinals. There’s nothing better than spending some quality time at the ballpark with your kiddo. While you’re there chances are you’ll run into Louie & Fetch, and maybe even a St. Louis Cardinal player or two. Plus they always have awesome events like, $1 bratwurst night, fireworks, and plenty of on field games in between innings. Not enough? Number 2


African Lions, Malayan Tigers and North American Black Bears oh my! Explore the Dickerson Park Zoo with your little ones while teaching them all about the different species. On top of that they get to learn about the importance of taking care of the world around us. With things like Zoo Tots, Creature Feature, and Zookeepers in Training there’s always something going on! Has your kiddo ever seen 6,000 rubber ducks racing down the Finley River? How about the area’s largest fireworks display? A balloon glow? Well you’re in luck because the Sertoma Duck Race Festival has all of these! The two day festival has live music, a car show, vendor booths, food trucks, carnival rides and more. It’s all happening June 21st and 22nd at Finley River Park in Ozark. Learn more at

How about something a little more laid back? Head out Rutledge Wilson Park for a nice day at the farm. Spend your time wandering through the fields, checking out the butterfly garden and meeting the animals in the big red barn. Last but not least there’s always the Wonders of Wildlife if you’re looking to avoid the summer heat. It’s the perfect place to spend a couple of hours, and WOW is there a lot to see. Get mesmerized while staring at the thousands of fish swirling around before you make your way through the 1.5 miles of trails filled with immersive exhibits and experiences. Besides fish, there’s snakes, flamingos, otters, sloths and plenty more. Needless to say, your kiddo will have a hard time picking out their favorite! Learn more at
