Well, it’s that time of the year again. The days are getting shorter, school is in full swing and the kiddos are getting restless on the weekends. To help beat the cold weather blues we put together a list of our 5 favorite things to do in Springfield this winter. Don’t worry, your kids will love you for it!

Mediacom Ice Park – Grab your blades and hit the ice. Mediacom Ice Park is the perfect place to take the kiddos for some family fun, and might even help get some of that energy out! With leagues, free skating and hockey games there’s plenty to do to keep your little ones entertained! Never been on the ice before? Don’t worry they offer lessons as well!

Wonders of Wildlife – This one might look familiar from our summer blog, but we think it’s worth putting on here again! With so much to see and so much to learn it’s one of the best places to spend a couple of hours on a particularly cold day. A must see this winter is the penguin cove and even the wildlife galleries with polar bears!

Jordan Valley Festival of Lights – Winter and Christmas lights go hand in hand, and there’s no better place to see them than at Jordan Valley Park! Starting November 17th the winter wonderland takes over with lights and music, which is perfect for an enchanted stroll. Oh, and if you’re lucky you may even find yourself on a carriage ride, making it a great night out!

Snowflex Tubing – We all know that the weather in the Ozarks is unpredictable. We can also probably all agree that winter is way more fun with snow tubing! Lucky for us Snowflex Tubing offers tubing year round, whether there’s snow on the ground or not. Plus, it’s only 30 minutes outside of Springfield, making it the perfect afternoon getaway!

Springfield Christmas Parade – It just wouldn’t be winter without the Springfield Christmas Parade. This year it’s happening on December 14th at 2PM. With floats, marching bands, candy and more your kiddos will love it. Who knows, they might even see the big man himself!
